The National Science Foundation (NSF) STEM Program supports talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing a degree from the highly ranked Penn State College of Engineering.

Penn State Abington students in NSF STEM lay the groundwork toward becoming highly skilled engineers through dynamic integrated courses and layers of dedicated mentors.  

NSF STEM Benefits

  • Enrollment in required calculus/physics and physics/electrical engineering integrated courses, both co-taught by faculty.
  • Support with coursework from peer mentors and guidance from the same dedicated academic adviser.
  • Assigned faculty mentors connect students to relevant undergraduate research and extracurricular experiences
  • Alumni and industry mentors provide professional development and internship and career opportunities 
  • Small class sizes lead to supportive relationships among students

A limited number of renewable scholarships are available for eligible applicants with unmet financial need.
